Before I got married I never dreamt that things would change so much the day I exchanged my wedding vows and began a new journey with the love of my life. Those initial few months and years were a process of growth for me as I learnt how to live with another person. It was a wonderful time, and I enjoyed many precious moments with my wife. But it was also a difficult time; when I learnt that some of the things I had been used to all my life were very different from the experiences encountered by my wife during her childhood. Looking back, I can say it was a time when I grew in maturity, and developed another dimension of my manhood.

There was another major change in my life - the day I became a father. Looking back, I never knew that I would again have to deal with such an upheaval in my day-to-day routines. Life as a couple had then become the norm, and having an additional person in the house made so much difference; for starters the child cried far more than my wife ever did!

Fathering (and parenting) is still a road that I am learning to walk on. During these past four years I have grown so much; and I cannot imagine that the person I am now is so different from the person I used to be. I'm still the same person intrinsically; but with additional perspectives infused into my being.

I know I am a better person because of my wife; I believe I can say the same about my children. For that's what I aspire - to become a better husband and father.

Malacca with the Kids: March 2015

Malacca has always been our go-to place for a short getaway. Most of the time, it's been without the kids. We love soaking in the ambience of Jonker Street and strolling by the river. The issue of private tuition has again come to the forefront after a senior education official pronounced in parliament that the Singapore education system is "run on the basis that tuition is not necessary". Hong Kong for Kids: Our Dorsett Wanchai Experience

Social media can be very deceiving. We scroll through the news feeds of people we know (or of celebrity bloggers and content experts), and assume that they are living perfect lives. Parenting Your Child for Marriage

It's not often that the Father of the Bride gets to speak at a wedding. Oftentimes, the only words are in response to the question, "Who presents this woman to be married to this man?" In that instance, it is normally a mild-mannered man, one who shuns the attention of the moment, who barely manages to whisper out the refrain, "I do." A precious photo of a very special couple. A Day in Our Lives in 2016: Balancing Homeschooling, Work, and Rest

It's been a pretty crazy year, as far as I'm concerned. Since Mark and I set up the training consultancy and the online store over two years ago, what used to be a pretty constant daily schedule with the kids has been thrown to the wind. And to be honest, so has much of our formal homeschooling schedule. (Which also explains why things have been pretty quiet on the blogging front with me - Mark has been doing most of the writing.) I must admit it has not been easy for me to deal with the guilt and tiredness that can come with trying to juggle all our different commitments in work, family and ministry, but looking back on the year I believe we have all grown from this time of unpredictability and change.
